After Nathan's Cleft Palate Surgery - Day 3

.

The morning started off by my waking up at 4:03 to use the bathroom and literally, twenty seconds after I sat up, the nurse walked in.  She did his vitals and then I spent a good few minutes trying to get his pain meds into him.   I couldn't fall back to sleep ..... So ... 4am .... I was awake.

And I heard these sad little noises coming from the side of Nathan's bed, and this is what I found....... Poor Monkey......
Okay - Monkey wasn't REALLY making sounds..

Nathan just slept and slept and slept and slept and slept..... infact he didn't get up until almost 9am.
 Gloomy Seattle morning
An actual good photo of his angry birds balloon ....
He's AWAKE...... and .and ... and..... DRINKING ON HIS OWN .......
After breakfast we wondered around some more - and I had seen a sign for some playroom activities ....  so I had gone back to the sign and read it was a playroom on the 2nd floor and walked in there - it was like .. HALLELUIAH!!....  actually him drinking on his own was that moment.... but ...  it was almost there...  I didn't know this was there....

And there is an outside area too!!!  Course all the outside areas are closed right now thanks to the construction ....

Nathan played for a little while......

the other half of the playroom, and behind the nurse in the blue shirt (down the middle of the picture) there is a doorway that leads into the teen center....
There is also a "therapy pool" that the kids (and parents) can use - as long as the kids have the permission of the Doctors ....
Nathan grabbed these from the little free box.  The purple cat and duck were for him and the blue cat was for Kaedyn - but Nathan gave his to Marnie... LOL...
Nathan hanging out - technically released but waiting for Nana ....
 GOING HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We hung up all of Nathan's cards on the wall!!!

Now, Nathan got strict instructions ... not to put his hands or fingers in there... not straws .... blah blah.....  didn't say a WORD about TOES!!
He's doing well at home :)

There is definitely a change in his voice, he has more volume, more force...  just more quality ...

Treasures through the Hospital

.

So we were at Seattle Children's Hospital...   and I wanted to share some of the treasures we found through out the hospital walking around a little...

First off there are different areas.   The Whale Area is the clinic area and surgery area ...   the Giraffe Area is the hospital area ...   there are also the Train, the Balloon, Rocket, and maybe more ... it helps you identify elevators to take you to certain areas ... or just where you are in the hospital

There is a waiting room in the doorway with these giraffes ...

So I showed you the doorway .......  there are little mosaic pictures on the floor in the rooms....
 A very colorful hallway
 Giraffe elevators on our floor
 Flowers by the elevators

 ELEVATORS
Each elevator has a "picture" that goes along with it's themes ... so the two giraffe elevators have giraffe theme pictures (or murals) ...

 The ceilings were fun too
Here is an example of one of the train elevators ....

 SCULPTURES
there were a lot of animal sculptures

 WALLS
The walls around the whole hospital are fun and inviting ....
Trains in the train area - go figure!

 TILES
Here are some of the pretty tiles

Even the bathrooms had different themed tiles, these are just tiles from one bathroom

 GIFT SHOP

 Yep - Pigs Fly ....

 Love these

The construction that's going on at the hospital

This is the Family Resource Center ... where parents can shower and use computers and what not.  Yep...... you have to go to one place in the hospital - huge hospital - to take a shower......
